Lake San Marcos Christmas Boat Parade

by Jacque on December 20, 2009

Lake San Marcos Christmas Boat Parade

Each Christmas in Lake San Marcos, the Yacht Club holds a boat parade.  Residents decorate their pontoon boats, with the best decorated boat winning the contest.  Each year the boat owners try to out do each other for the grand prize.  The boats form a parade starting from the picnic area at the south end of the lake, proceeding in a counter clockwise path under the bridge to the north end of the lake and back again.  People line the bridge or view the parade from the grassy area near the Quail’s Inn, or even from their patio’s if they live on the lakefront.  Santa and Mrs. Claus usually make an appearance by leading the parade.  After which the Yacht Club holds a party and fun can be had by all!
