A seaside resort city in North San Diego County incorporated in 1952. Carlsbad is an upscale community of about 105,000 residents divided among 4 zip codes, 92008, 92009, 92010, and 92011. Carlsbad is centrally located between major cities of San Diego and Los Angeles along Interstate 5. Also regular events in the village, which include a farmers market held every Saturday and Wednesday , an Annual Art Street Faire, and the Carlsbad Village Street Faire which is the largest single day street faire in North American with almost 1,000 vendors and attended by well over 120,000 people. The beaches are white sand, walkable, and draw many tourists year round.


The Southwest Quadrant is located south of Palomar Airport Rd and west of El Camino Real and is designated by the ZIP code 92011. This area is mostly a mixture of business and residential beach communities, including Ponto and Aviara which has the Four Seasons Resort Aviara as its focal point. Batiquitos Lagoon cuts through the area, with its natural habitat and walking trails and is a popular draw for both tourists and residents alike.


The Northeastern Quadrant is bound by Palomar Airport Rd on the south, El Camino Real on the west, and is bordered on the north by Highway 78. On its eastern border is the City of Vista. Identified by Zip Code 92011, this area is almost exclusively residential with the exception of one large shopping area and indoor mall. A couple of the residential neighborhoods are older Chestnut Hills, newer Calavera Hills, a planned community located near the intersection of College Boulevard and Carlsbad Village Dr, and yet to be built area called Robertson Ranch.


The Southeast quadrant is located south of Palomar Airport Rd and east of El Camino Real. It borders on the City of San Marcos on its eastern front. It is the newest quadrant in Carlsbad and also one of the most expensive. It has many planned communities and million-dollar homes. Some notable communities in this quadrant, identified by ZIP code 92011, include award winning Bressi Ranch, La Costa Ridge, La Costa Greens with it’s spectacular ocean views and famous La Costa Golf Course, the Villages of La Costa, and La Costa Oaks, and on the eastern border is Rancho Carrillo named after Leo Carrillo Ranch Park.
